Rex Unger

Rex Unger is a communications strategist specializing in nonprofits and philanthropy. He founded Reciprocal Brand & Strategy to help mission-driven clients learn from their audiences, change conversations, and inspire action.

Over more than a decade of social impact work, Rex has developed brands and communications strategies for Robin Hood Foundation, Jewish Communal Fund, Harvard Law School’s Center for Labor and a Just Economy, Immigrant Justice Corps, The J.M. Kaplan Fund, Brown-Forman Foundation, Partnership for Global LGBTIQ+ Equality, and the Institute for Children, Poverty & Homelessness. As Managing Director at Phil & Co., he oversaw the agency’s client services and led integrated campaigns for the YWCA, MetLife Foundation, SCORE, American Diabetes Association, United Nations Foundation, and the Carnegie Corporation, among others.

Rex has spoken at NYN Media’s Nonprofit FundCon and the Engage for Good conference and is passionate about media, policy and social justice. He is a graduate of Grinnell College.
