Liz Meshel
Liz Meshel is a non-profit consultant passionate about using research to foster positive, actionable change in the social and cultural heritage sectors. She has over a decade of experience in non-profit operations, development, grantmaking, and community-led research — all underpinned by a desire to ensure the representation of local and marginalized communities in and beyond the historical record.
Her latest work as a 2023 Fulbright Researcher focused on the funding and operational challenges of cultural institutions and NGOs in Bulgaria, resulting in a series of capacity-building workshops for Bulgarian museum workers. She recently partnered with Social Strategy Associates to conduct research for The New York Community Trust and the Center for Labor and a Just Economy at Harvard Law School.
Prior to consulting, Liz worked as the Program and Grants Assistant at The J.M. Kaplan Fund, where she aided in their grantmaking activities, streamlined grants management processes, and developed events to showcase grantees.
Liz received her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Design and Architecture Studies from New York University and a Master of Arts in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from the University of British Columbia.
